href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/royal-air-force\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/royal-air-force\/\"> RAF<\/a> base in <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/oxfordshire\/\">Oxfordshire<\/a> were damaged activists, who say the aircraft are indirectly used to commit genocide in <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/palestine\/\">Palestine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Palestine Action said they broke into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and damaged two RAF Voyager aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>They claim the planes depart daily to Akrotiri in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/cyprus\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/cyprus\/\">Cyprus<\/a>, and ‘from there collect intelligence, refuel fighter jets and transport weapons to commit genocide in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/gaza\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/gaza\/\">Gaza<\/a>’. <\/p>\n<p>The said two activists rode up to the planes on electric scooters and used ‘repurposed fire extinguishers to spray red paint into the turbine engines of two Airbus Voyagers’. <\/p>\n<p>The group, who said the red paint symbolised Palestinian blood, claimed they also used crowbars to cause further damage.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Palestine Action said: ‘Despite publicly condemning the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/israel\">Israeli<\/a> government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza and refuel US\/Israeli fighter jets. Britain isn’t just complicit, it’s an active participant in the Gaza genocide and war crimes across the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>‘By decommissioning two military planes, Palestine Action have directly intervened in the genocide and prevented crimes against the Palestinian people.’<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ukdefencejournal.org.uk\/palestine-group-attacks-raf-base-damages-voyager-aircraft\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ukdefencejournal.org.uk\/palestine-group-attacks-raf-base-damages-voyager-aircraft\/\">UK Defence Journal<\/a>, defence sources said this was ‘inaccurate’ and that RAF Voyagers based at Brize Norton are primarily used to support Operation Shader, the UK\u2019s ongoing mission against Daesh in Iraq and Syria.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23420380 lazyload\" alt=\"Palestinians inspect the site of an Israeli strike on the Bureij camp for Palestinian refugees in the central Gaza Strip on June 15, 2025. Gaza's civil defence agency said 16 people were killed in Israeli military operations in the Palestinian territory on June 15, most of them while waiting for aid.\" loading=\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/mississaugaoffice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SEI_255660200-1ee9.jpg\">\t<\/div><figcaption>Palestinians inspect the site of an Israeli strike on the Bureij camp for Palestinian refugees in the central Gaza Strip on June 15 (Picture: AFP or licensors)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They said the aircrafts were not used to support Israeli operations. <\/p>\n<p>Palestine Action said they managed to carry out the aircraft damage without being detected.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2023, the group sprayed the BBC’s head quarters in London with red paint over what it said was biased coverage in favour of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The UK currently allows British firms to sell weapons to Israel, including parts of lethal F-16 fighter jets, despite repeated calls by pro-Palestine campaigners to ban the sales. <\/p>\n<p>Figures released in May revealed that licensed arms exports to Israel increased from less than \u00a330,000 in the first quarter of 2024 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/may\/21\/uk-mps-to-grill-ministers-over-arms-exports-to-israel\">\u00a3127.6m<\/a> in the final quarter.<\/p>\n<p>In September last year the UK government suspended around 30 out of 350 weapons export licences to Israel, were it said the weapons could be used in Gaza to violate international law.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23362408 lazyload\" alt=\"Israeli soldiers sit at the entrance to the European Hospital in Khan Younis at the Gaza Strip, where they found a tunnel underneath it, amid the ongoing ground operation of the Israeli army against Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, June 8, 2025.
