Queen Elizabeth<\/a> II’s ‘favourite grandson’ has announced his engagement to an NHS nurse after a year of dating. <\/p>\n

Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, has proposed to Harriet Sperling. <\/p>\n

The pair are believed to have got together in 2024 having met at a sporting event.<\/p>\n

A statement from the couple read: ‘Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire<\/a>, have today confirmed their official engagement.<\/p>\n

‘Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement.<\/p>\n

‘Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement.<\/p>\n

‘No date has been officially set for the wedding.’<\/p>\n

Peter Phillips, 44, is the eldest child of Princess Anne<\/a> and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips.<\/p>\n

Born in November 1977, Peter was fifth in line to the throne at his birth, which he remained until the birth of Prince William five years later.<\/p>\n

Now 17th in line<\/a>, Mr Phillips was married to Canadian management consultant Autumn Kelly from 2008 to 2019.<\/p>\n

Together they have two children, Savannah, 11 and Isla, 10.<\/p>\n

Mr Phillips has a degree in sports science and has been managing director at boutique sports management company SEL UK since 2012. He previously worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland.<\/p>\n
